Feet pounding the pavement, lungs burning, thoughts drifting somewhere between exhaustion and exhilaration. But running past cheering crowds and familiar city streets, the heaviness gives way to a sense of wonder at what it means to push oneself forward. Not just running – but being part of something bigger, something that unites thousands of hearts for a single goal: this region’s biggest marathon – NLB Ljubljana marathon.
On the penultimate weekend of October, Ljubljana will once again come alive with the rhythm of running. The NLB Ljubljana Marathon, taking place on Saturday, 18 October, and Sunday, 19 October 2025, is more than just a sporting event – it’s a celebration of movement, perseverance and community. It is the largest running event in Southeast Europe, our home region, attracting runners from over 40 countries each year. As much as a third of international participants come from the region where NLB operates – among them many of our employees and clients.
This year, organizers expect a record number of participants – more than 20,000 runners – confirming that the marathon is not just a local event, but a globally recognized running experience. The streets of Ljubljana will be filled with energy, cheering crowds and a vibrant atmosphere that can only be truly felt in person.
