New Artistic Council of the Museum and Gallerie MUZA

In May 2026, the MUZA Museum and Gallerie established a new Artistic Council, an internationally conceived advisory body that contributes to reflections on the development of the collection, the museum’s programme orientations, and the institution’s positioning within the wider regional and international context.

The Artistic Council brings together distinguished professionals from the fields of contemporary art, museology, and cultural production. Through their expertise and experience, they contribute to the long-term development of the MUZA Museum and Gallerie and to the strengthening of international dialogue.

Members of the Artistic Council are:

  • Vanja Žanko, curator and cultural producer and founder of the platform NOMAD – The Croatian Office for Contemporary Art, active in the fields of contemporary art, collection development, international collaboration, and the production of exhibition and residency projects;
  • Adela Demetja, curator, cultural producer, and Director of the National Gallery of Arts of Albania in Tirana; founder of the platform Tirana Art Lab – Center for Contemporary Art and initiator of numerous international projects connecting contemporary art, research, and socially engaged practices;
  • Miha Colner, art historian, Senior Curator at the Božidar Jakac Gallery – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, and lecturer and writer specialising in contemporary visual culture, photography, printmaking, and new media;
  • Ana Frangovska, art historian, museum advisor at the National Gallery of the Republic of North Macedonia, and lecturer at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, with extensive experience in modern and contemporary art in North Macedonia and the wider region;
  • Sarita Vujković, art historian, full professor, and Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republika Srpska, active in the fields of contemporary art and museology, and initiator and author of numerous significant international institutional projects.

Vanja Žanko has been appointed President of the Artistic Council.

The team of the MUZA Museum and Gallerie believes that the newly established Artistic Council will make a meaningful contribution to the continued development of the collection, encourage deeper reflection on programme orientations, and strengthen international cooperation in the field of contemporary art.
